Squalane synthesized by Advonex looks and feels like the real thing

BROCKVILLE, CANADA – Advonex International today announces the release of a new product – Entrada®-SQ –squalane synthesized in a laboratory. Squalane is a high-end moisturizing agent used in skin and hair care products, vaccine manufacturing and other personal care applications. It provides a smooth and soft appearance to the skin and hair.
Until now, squalane has been extracted from olive oil, shark livers or synthesized from sugar cane. Personal care companies have stopped using shark-liver squalane in their products as alternative sources have become available.
Extracting squalane to meet global demand requires a large amount olive oil as squalane is only present in trace amounts in olive oil. Furthermore, xylella fastidiosa bacteria has been devastating the Italian olive oil production with no known cure except for destruction of the diseased trees. Xylella has recently spread to the even larger Spanish olive industry and is threatening the Greek grooves resulting to overall reduction in global olive oil production. This is making it harder to derive squalane from olive oil and alternatives are being sought that are less expensive.
“With its patented process technology, Advonex can produce squalane from plant-based oils such as soybean, palm, canola and other plant resources.” said Chad Joshi, CEO. “Our Entrada-SQ exhibits sensory characteristics similar to olive squalane. Entrada-SQ has the same smoothness, glossiness and spreadability and leaves a smooth softness on the skin. With our pilot production plant engineering underway, Advonex expects to have Entrada-SQ available in quantity in early 2020.”
